Following unproductive meetings with Canadian Football League executives and the leagues legal counsel Friday, the Canadian Football League Players Association has decided to take a significant step to emphasize its solidarity in negotiations: The union has begun sending strike ballots by priority mail. A player confirmed to TSN on the condition of anonymity that he received his ballot yesterday. Another confirms hes been told to expect his shortly. "The unions executive committee insists a strike vote does not mean were pushing away from the table," the player said. "But we want the league to know were serious about our position." The players executive committee includes union president Scott Flory, vice-presidents Jay McNeil, Marwan Hage and Jeff Keeping and treasurer Brian Ramsay. Keeping (Toronto Argonauts) and Ramsay (Edmonton Eskimos) are the two active players on the committee. The league and players are still scheduled to meet in Toronto Wednesday - eight days before the current CBA is set to expire on May 29 - when the players will table a new proposed collective bargaining agreement that will include a revenue sharing scheme with the union requesting a percentage of gate, sponsorship and television revenue. With each revenue stream the union is proposing its share be in the range of approximately 40-55 per cent. The proposal includes a salary cap of approximately $7 million in the first year of a new CBA. In 2013, the last year of the current agreement, the salary cap was $4.4 million. The league has so far been reluctant to discuss any revenue sharing model. "Weve been told to expect a step back tomorrow (from the owners)," the player says. The CFLPA requires more than 50 per cent of its players to confirm a strike vote. But the players must adhere to provincial labour laws, and cannot picket immediately. According to a source with knowledge of the talks, only players in certain provinces, where a strike vote can happen before the current bargaining expires, have received their ballots. Jose Quintana Jersey . -- Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday for the first time in his seven-year career because of a swollen muscle in his left upper back. Justin Grimm Jersey .A. Happ. The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking to improve the starting rotation ahead of next season and pitchers like Happ have a chance to show they belong as the disastrous 2013 campaign draws to a close. http://www.authenticcubsteamproshop.com/cubs-anthony-rizzo-jersey/ . -- Even as Chris Paul remained evasive about his future, he did what team leaders are expected to do. Ian Happ Jersey . Wheeler scored at 4:58 of overtime, with Scheifele getting an assist, and the Jets beat the slumping Colorado Avalanche 2-1 on Sunday night. Mike Montgomery Jersey . -- Slugger Jose Abreu, All-Star left-hander Chris Sale and closer Matt Lindstrom are on the disabled list. Brad Jacobs and his Canadian rink outlasted China for a 9-8 victory in extra ends on Sunday, ending round-robin play in the mens curling tournament at the 2014 Olympics with six straight wins. The Canadian team clinched a spot in the semifinals earlier in the day with an 8-6 win over the United States. After starting 1-2 in the tournament, Jacobs has reeled off six straight wins to finish the round-robin portion at 7-2, and will finish in second place behind Sweden (8-1). In a match that went back and forth, Jacobs stole points in the eighth and ninth ends to open up a two-point lead heading into the 10th. Chinese skip Rui Liu and his rink struggled down the stretch, allowing Jacobs to get back into the match with China up 6-3 after six ends. Jacobs survived a sloppy 10th end which allowed China to score a double, forcing an extra end. Canada only had ffive minutes and 35 seconds to complete the 10th end – if Jacobs ran out of time before throwing his final rock, Canada wouldve forfeited the match.dddddddddddd It forced Jacobs to rush his final two stones, missing both takeouts, which gave Chinese skip Rui Liu an easy draw to tie the game. But Jacobs came through with his final shot in the 11th end, making a perfect draw to the button facing two Chinese stones for the win. Canada could face China in the semis, depending on the outcome of the Chinese rinks match against Great Britain to close out the round-robin section on Monday. China can finish no lower than fourth, and will either play Canada or Sweden in the semifinal round. Great Britain needs a win over China or a loss by Norway to ensure a semifinal berth. Both semifinals are on Wednesday at 10 a.m. (CBC, CBCSports.ca).
